Young and Talented theatre school based in Bethnal Green have been transforming lives since 2004. This is an extra special year for all people and all communities living close to the Olympics. Thanks to being awarded the Transformers Grant, Young and Talented have been able to run its 39 week programme and for scholarship places. Fifty young people started their life enhancing journey in September 2011. It will end this July with this amazing showcase performance.

Additionally, this March the school represented by the group ‘The Real Deal’ went all the way and won the national TV talent show run by the BBC Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2012. What a journey and experience for these 8 students. They were selected from over 100 groups across the nation. On the way to the finals head judge Carrie Grant described their performance as “A master class in soloists – amazing”. In the finals after delivering a stunning version of the classic Motown hit ‘I Want You Back’ by the Jackson 5 Carrie Grant said “We’re looking at the future of British Music… the singing was beautiful… an amazing standard that would fit in America”.

“I am so proud of what we achieve here at Young and Talented” said school owner, artistic director and actress Suzann McLean, “This is an amazing achievement for East London. What a great start in the run up to the Olympics and what a great start in life for these young people who besides learning to act, dance and sing also gain valuable life enhancing skills.”
