The National Maritime Museum

Name of Project:
Making Waves
Amount awarded:
£20,000
Duration of grant:
February 2012 to December 2012

Working with key partners within the Greenwich World Heritage Site, the National Maritime Museum will lead a unique collaborative project combining arts, heritage and PE, to enable children from Greenwich to recognise and celebrate the key assets which led to their home town hosting this internationally significant event; to realise their own creative, physical and collaborative potential and to inspire their friends, families and other schools across the Borough to do the same. This will combine world-class skills and expertise in heritage/learning/music/dance and visual media, to produce music/film and dance pieces with teachers and pupils from Greenwich primary schools. It will culminate in a dance performance at the Museum as part of the Olympic build-up. Films and soundtracks will be displayed in the Museum’s new digital display spaces for the duration of the Olympics and Paralympics and will leave a legacy of excellence through the production of curriculum-focused learning resources disseminated to schools.
