Sixty 11- to 16-year-olds from Newham, Tower Hamlets and Hackney will engage across two weeks of free exciting educational theatre and media workshops, to create ‘viral’ adverts and supporting posters exploring the concepts of the Olympic Values and Paralympic Vision, how they apply to young local people on a street level and the barriers to them.
Participants’ viral ideas will be judged by family, friends, local professionals and residents. The chosen advert from each week will be filmed and disseminated through Facebook, YouTube and email, with supporting posters displayed in sitings across the borough prior to each series of Games to spread the young people’s interpretations of messages of the Olympics and Paralympics further.
Participants’ schools will be offered a free resource packs including the virals, the posters and ideas for relevant class-based activities so more young people can learn from the project.
