Transformers Grants Programme

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic bid was won on a promise of a legacy of regeneration for east London and the difference it would make to local communities. In order to make this vision a reality we are delighted that the Olympic Lottery Distributor has agreed to fund the Transformers grants programme that will be managed by ELBA.

Transformers was targeted at communities in five of the Olympic Host Boroughs and the programme funded projects for up to two years. The application process opened on 3 September 2010 and closed in December 2012 with no costs covered beyond this period. Grants were available for between £10,000 and £20,000 per annum.

Transformers only funded projects that were delivered in Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Waltham Forest and Greenwich. Applicants had to prove a strong track record in delivering projects in these boroughs and were established organisations with a track record of delivery and community engagement - enabling the programme to “invest in success”.

Transformers supported 73 projects to a total of just over £1,670,000.
